iPhone 7 Rumours – What can we expect?
Undoubtedly, the new iPhone – the iPhone 7 – is one of the most eagerly awaited gadgets of 2016. After the iPhone 6s upgrade last year, tech enthusiasts are keen to see what Apple, the most valuable company on the planet, has planned for this year. Speculation is already rife as to what we can expect from Apple’s latest release, with tech fans eagerly anticipating its launch in the autumn. We've scouted the web to bring you some of the rumours we think may have a little truth in them!
Goodbye Home Button
Will the iPhone 7 have a home button? It’s been the mainstay of all iPhone releases to date, but tech experts have suggested it could be scrapped in favour of a fully integrated 3D Touch system. By removing the button, Apple can offer a larger screen in a more compact design. Removing the button from the iPhone altogether isn’t exactly a new idea. More and more reports and even Apple’s own patents suggest the move is at least planned for some point in the not too distant future, if not for the iPhone 7 release.
Dual Lens Camera
You’ve probably seen countless ‘leaked’ iPhone 7 images appear online over the past few months. One in particular is Gaining considerable momentum is an image that appears to show perhaps the biggest feature of the upcoming iPhone plus. ‘leaked’ photos which have found their way to numerous Chinese forums suggest the inclusion of a dual-lens camera. A dual-lens camera would drastically improve the cameras overall function and could even be used for 3D photography. Watch this space!
No Headphone Jack?
This particular rumour has been one of the most widely circulated in recent months, following reports earlier in the year that the upcoming iPhone may be one millimeter slimmer than its predecessor by the removal of the headphone jack. If this is the case, headphones need to be connected via a Lightning connector or Bluetooth. However, a decision to remove the standard 3.5mm jack is likely to be a controversial one. This would be bad news for headphone manufacturers, which would need to supply lightning cables to make sure their headphones are compatible, coming at an extra cost for the customer.
Water Damage a thing of the Past?
It’s rumoured that the iPhone 7 could be waterproof. In 2015, a new patent revealed that Apple is exploring ways to make the IPhone waterproof without making any drastic changes to its slick design. Instead of adding further protection to the external iPhone design, the patent eludes to a protective coating of components found inside the IPhone, which would prevent damage in the event of water finding its way in. It’s a change that wasn’t quite ready for the 6s and 6s plus release but its possible we could see a waterproof design ready for the IPhone 7!
